Bel-Air

Located in Cyber village on Hong Kong Island. Bel Air comprises multiple tower largely built by London Architects Foster & Partners between 2005-2008. The brief to RSA is to re-invigorate the communal gardens and water feature to give this Chinese development a more sophisticated and European feel while working the colourful native species.

Living space in Hong Kong is at a premium given the vertical nature and high density of the accommodation over such a small area. Therefore, a landscape strategy needs to maximize all possible outdoor space to create a sense of horizon and provide an extension of interior for entertaining and recreation. Shade is another important factor to consider as the tropical climate can reach high temperatures with stifling humidity during several month of the year.
