Celebrating the Launch of ‘Garden’

This month Randle Siddeley releases his first and long awaited book after 35 years in The industry. Featuring a showcase of inspiring town and country gardens throughout Britain and abroad, ‘Garden’ demonstrates Randle’s ability to create a seamless relationship between gardens and their surrounding landscapes and the people who use and enjoy them.

David Linley, who has contributed the foreword to ‘GARDEN’, says of its author and one of Britain’s leading landscape designers,“I see the eye of a great artist at work. Each garden is a canvas – some enormous, some tiny, onto which he imprints a design that looks as though it must have always been there.”

In offering advice for those who wish to design their own special garden, the book doubles as a detailed guide and a friendly companion.“People are now using outside space – whether it’s an urban roof terrace, a tiny town garden or a sprawling estate – as an extension of the interior. Global warming may not be an appealing prospect, but,” as Randle points out, “it has facilitated a milder climate in Britain where we are able to spend more of the year outdoors. The whole concept of a more ‘al fresco’ lifestyle leads to stylish accessories like sculptures, water and lighting features, elegant patio furniture and decorative planting.” ‘GARDEN’ illustrates how strong core design is essential to the choice of materials, plants, trees, furniture, lighting and artwork.

‘GARDEN’ (£50.00) will be launched during Chelsea Flower Show and is published by Frances Lincoln; available from all good book shops, signed copies can be purchased directly from Randle Siddeley Associates.
