Landscape design for Ekaterinburg Central Market, Russia

Central Market is the new city square close to the centre of Ekaterinburg, the fourth largest city in Russia, located on border of Siberia. The aim of the design is to establish this new square as one of Ekaterinburg’s principle public spaces, creating a centerpiece for the surrounding new retail, residential and office development. This new elegant space will be constructed from high quality materials with theatrical fountains and lighting effects.

A key aspect of the design is flexibility; the square with bars and cafes will be a place to meet, socialize and also host summer concerts and performances. In winter the square will host an ice skating rink and Christmas events.
The vision is to make a public square that is the focus of the city, plus creates a major new urban destination. (CGI images appear courtesy of MBLD)
