Greenwich Millenium Village Square Landscape Design, London
Landscape design for Greenwich Millenium Village Square, London
The key design objective for the square is to ensure it becomes the heart and focus of the village by creating a vibrant public space.
The square has a southerly aspect that is ideal to create a space that can function throughout the year and provide opportunities for events as well as creating breakout areas for rest and relaxation.
The concept has taken the most successful elements of the design created by Desvigne and Dalnoky within Central and Southern Park, e.g. the axial hard landscape, structured native planting, grid woodland planting and hierarchy of street furniture. The square design is an interpretation of these elements and articulates the design through the creation of a series of spaces that provide maximum flexibility for public use.
The axial arrangement connects the central park to the square and emphasises the view to from the southern park.
