Great Covert Park Landscape Design, Hampshire
Landscape design for Great Covert Park, Hampshire
The residential mixed-use development of Great Covert Park provides some unique opportunities. The design that has been developed will provide 1,050 new homes developed around the concept of a traditional Hampshire village.
The design follows the village concept by developing the built form of the site around a focal open space of a village green, which links directly with a village square and is bound by offices, shops and a village pub. The design also includes extensive facilities for use by residents and the existing local communities including a health centre, primary school and nursery, horse riding school, play areas, sports pitches, allotments, public gardens, a leisure centre and an indoor swimming pool. A network of cycle ways and footpaths will be integrated into the whole development area and therefore connect all of these new facilities.
The Sustainability of any new development is of paramount importance and Great Covert Park provides the opportunity to take a new look at how best a new housing development can be planned and executed. The development is established in a woodland setting, the concept of developing a new village also takes into consideration the latest government advice with respect to urban extension.
