RSA’s brief was to create an English garden with avenues of herbaceous planting along with plenty of recreational space and al fresco eating areas for the long, hot New England summers.

The team made use of the sloping terrain to design a series of connecting terraces and garden rooms including an herbaceous avenue, a lawn with a petanque court and an avenue of clipped hornbeam.

The pool area was re-landscaped incorporating the existing paving and an attractive new pool house that reflects the architecture of the main house. Many of the trees and herbaceous plants were grown to order; a masterful blend of planting all combines to create a beautiful and romantic English haven across the pond.
