Landscape design for Rocco Forte Hotel, Marrakech

Assoufid Rocco Forte Hotel and Resort is set just outside the city on 222 hectares of countryside against the spectacular backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. This boutique development comprises spacious villas, a luxury hotel and spa, an 18-hole private golf course with clubhouse and a golf academy. RSA have been commissioned to carry out the landscape and external works for the resort complex that is to be completed in phases.

The hotel features contemporary design inspired by traditional Moroccan architecture. Key landscape elements of the hotel are the main entrance courtyard with a focal water feature, landscaped formal gardens with an elegantly detailed pool and decadent palm avenues with a series of interlinked outdoor spaces surrounding the main swimming pool and terraced poolside restaurant.

Each wing of the hotel has its own central landscaped courtyard with informal breakfast areas and a swimming pool surrounded by large citrus trees offering vistas to the surrounding olive grove and Atlas Mountains.

The golf club house landscaping is characterised by ornamental trees and colourful planting encompassing an innovative central water feature at the main entrance. Groves of palm trees and dense shrub planting provide strong structure to the surrounding landscape. The golf course is due to be completed by the end of 2010 and the hotel is to be completed the following year.
