Garden design for Tusmore Park, Oxfordshire

Tusmore Park was awarded the prize of ‘Best Modern House in a Classical Tradition’ in 2004. The house replaces an earlier 1964 ‘weak’ replacement of the original 18th Century house designed by Robert Milne, a superb example of the classical country house; eventually it was demolished in 1961.

Set within a 3,000-acre estate, the prominence of the house forms the focus of the landscape restoration plan. The landscape strategy centred on the immediate surroundings of the house and involved the phased rejuvenation of the gardens, including the redevelopment and restoration of the sunken gardens.
